FAQ

Common questions

How does the 1-on-1 career coaching process work? +

We start with a free intro call to make sure we're a good fit — no pressure, no pitch. If we both want to move forward, we'll book your first session.

Sessions are 70 minutes, on video — or in person if you're in Paris. We work through whatever's most alive for you — whether that's figuring out what you actually want, working through a specific decision, or unpacking what's been keeping you stuck. Between sessions you'll have email access to me, and we'll often set small experiments or actions to try before we meet again.

I don't have a fixed framework or a formula because everyone's context is different. But I do have a way of getting to the real question fast — which is usually not the one you walked in with.

How is coaching defined according to the ICF? +

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as "partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential."

In practice, that means I'm not here to give you answers or tell you what to do. I'm here to help you think more clearly, see what you might be missing, and move forward with more intention. The expertise on your own life is yours — I just help you access it.

How is coaching different from therapy? +

Therapy typically focuses on healing — understanding the past, processing trauma, working through mental health challenges. Coaching focuses on the future — where you want to go and what's getting in the way.

That said, good coaching isn't shallow. We'll dig into beliefs, patterns, and fears. It just stays anchored to your professional life and what you want to do with it. If something deeper comes up that's beyond the scope of coaching, I'll say so honestly.

How do I know if I need a career coach? +

If you're going in circles on a career question — the same doubts, the same "I don't know what I want" — and talking to friends or colleagues isn't moving you forward, a coach is probably what you're missing.

You don't need to be in crisis. You might just feel stuck, flat, or like something needs to change but you can't name it yet. That's enough of a reason to reach out.

If something comes up that feels bigger than career uncertainty — anxiety, depression, or something more personal — I'm trained to recognise that and will point you toward the right support.

What if my topic isn't strictly career-related? +

It often isn't. People come in with a "career question" that turns out to be about identity, confidence, relationships with work, or what they actually value. That's all fair game.

What I don't do is therapy. If what's coming up needs that kind of support, I'll say so. But if it's about how you show up, what you want, or what's holding you back — we can work with it.

What makes you a qualified coach? +

I hold an ICF ACC accreditation — that's the International Coaching Federation's Associate Certified Coach credential, which requires rigorous training, supervised practice hours, and ongoing development. The ICF is the global standard for professional coaching.

Beyond the credential, I've worked with 150+ clients across tech, design, and beyond — people navigating pivots, promotions, plateaus, and everything in between. And before coaching, I spent 8+ years working in tech myself, leading teams. I know what it actually feels like to be in the messy middle.

I'm also currently training as a Gestalt therapist and starting a BA in Psychology — because the quality of this work matters to me, and I don't think you stop learning how to do it better. I'm also regularly supervised by a mentor coach to make sure I stay objective and professional.

What are your favourite topics to work with? +

Leadership transitions, career pivots, and identity crises — the moments when you're not sure who you are professionally anymore, or who you want to become.

I'm particularly drawn to the in-between moments: when something has ended but the next thing hasn't started yet, when a role no longer fits but you can't quite name why, when success feels hollow and you don't know what to do with that.

How do you make sure I reach my goal? +

Honestly? I don't — and anyone who promises that is overselling it.

What I do is create the conditions for it. I'll challenge you, hold you accountable, and make sure you don't let yourself off the hook too easily. I'll help you get clear on what you actually want — not just what sounds good — and build a realistic path toward it.

The work happens in sessions, but also between them. You bring the commitment; I bring the structure, the questions, and the push.
